Five Reasons Why the Housing Boom is Good News for us All

Discovery Center Contribution

They say every cloud has a silver lining… While the pandemic had an undeniably devastating impact on the lives and livelihoods of countless people worldwide, as the fog lifts and hope returns, the one sector that could represent that proverbial silver lining is the housing industry. With so many people spending more time at home, it was easy to see what their home was lacking – sending them on the quest for the ideal home to fit their needs. Fortunately, that quest led many of them to Traditions of Braselton. The housing boom that we’re currently witnessing is good news for us all, and here are just a handful of reasons why:

Property Values Continue to Climb

If we learned anything from Economics 101, it’s that demand is driving supply right now. As more home buyers clamor for new homes and builders race to keep up, inventories are beginning to dwindle nationwide – making it a sellers’ market. As house prices rise, property values stay in step – which is great news for current Traditions of Braselton residents. According to the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Home Price Appreciation for March 2021 was 12.6% – nearly 6% higher than the previous year. Meanwhile, Realtor.com reports that the April 2021 national median listing price for active listings was $375,000, up 17.2% from last year. With the South being listed among the hottest markets for new home sales, you can expect your property values to continue to climb. Diversified financial services company, Jefferies Financial Group predicts that the current housing market “hot streak” will evolve to slower, more sustainable growth – rather than burst, like the housing market bubble of 2008.

A Flurry of Activity Keeps Excitement levels high

We currently have 130 homes at various stages of construction at Traditions of Braselton. While you may occasionally grow tired of the sound of hammers and electric saws in the air, that audible and visual flurry of activity creates a sense of urgency for visiting home buyers. If you’re considering putting your home on the market – while we’d hate to see you go – this might be one of the best times in history to do so. Someone who came seeking a new construction home might just see your existing home with its mature landscaping and loads of curb appeal and fall in love. There were more existing homes sold in 2020 than in any year since 2006.

It’s Cool to Live in a Place Where Others Want to Be

Of course, if you’re planning to stay put (and we certainly hope you are), there’s value in living in a place where others want to be that extends beyond property values. On the heels of a pandemic, now is a great time to truly count your blessings, which include living in a beautiful home in a scenic neighborhood that boasts an amazing lifestyle – from clubs and activities to resort-quality amenities. And let’s not forget the chance to have some of THE greatest neighbors in the world!
