DESIGN

There are several elements to consider when curating a home’s design but the number one design element in elevating your Real Estate value is lighting. It is imperative that the inclusion of lighting design be implemented in order to enhance your home’s greatest features. There are four basic types of lighting to consider when designing your home; ambient lighting, task lighting, accent lighting, and decorative lighting.

AMBIENT LIGHTING

Ambient lighting is the process of integrating light into the design, color, and architecture of a space. It is the foundation of all the lighting in the room. Ambient lighting invites you into a space by bringing a sense of warmth and depth into a room.

TASK LIGHTING

Task lighting provides an increased light for a specific task in a room such as table lamps or pendant lighting. In addition, task lighting can be second as ambient lighting to create an isolated atmosphere for that specific task.

ACCENT LIGHTING

Accent lighting focuses light on a particular area or object. The light of accent lighting is brighter and creates a visual interest in the room such as highlighting a piece of art. Common types of accent lighting include wall sconces, floodlights, recessed lights, or track lighting.

DECORATIVE LIGHTING

Decorative lighting is a light source that is strictly installed for aesthetic purposes and generally does not serve as an intentional lighting source. Decorative lighting is usually a distinct choice in design that creates a focal point in the room. In turn, the decorative lighting offers inspiration for the design to aspire from.
