Shopping Local Is The Way To Go!

Georgia Lighting

When Georgia Lighting formed its new showroom in December of 2020, we were all still in the middle of a pandemic that had record levels of consumers shopping online. So why invest in a new brick-and-mortar experience during such a tumultuous and uncertain time?

The owner at Georgia Lighting, Frank Therrien explains. “We were poised to take over one of the most highly visible lighting showroom locations in the state. Located in a stand-alone building on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, we already had a local customer base that had been visiting this showroom for over 20 years. I should know – I managed the previous business, Colonial Lighting, which moved to Decatur. These shoppers learned years ago that there was no substitute for seeing the latest in lighting designs and home décor in person. Especially when accompanied with friendly, professional guidance from our team. Visitors also learned that our prices were usually the same as they were seeing online. In fact, many are surprised to learn that our prices are often even lower. As we have seen in 2021, people are tired of staying inside. We offer a rewarding experience to those who wish to venture out!”

At Georgia Lighting you are always greeted with a friendly face and experienced employees. Not only are you welcomed with helpfulness but a showroom with great diversity of lighting and home décor products than you might ever expect.

One of the best ways to shop at a local establishment like Georgia Lighting is to make the most of the inventory on hand. “We have thousands of products in stock,” Therrien said. “We also have extra-value products on hand, such as overstock, discontinued, and special-purchase program items. For example, we are currently promoting the “Stout” ceiling fan from Minka Aire. This state-of-the art 54” fan with integrated LED lighting has a retail price of $219.90. Because of a volume purchase, we are offering it for $125.00 in our store. That price is lower than Minka Aire allows to be advertised online. Minimum advertised price points protect showrooms like us, who make significant investments in physical presentations that online merchants don’t necessarily do. But one thing we can do is beat the online merchants at their own game with programs like this. We are always looking for the next way to bring that extra value to our local patrons.”

“I’m not immune to the draw of online commerce. But I genuinely look for reasons to shop locally. It’s an important way to do our part to strengthen our community. It makes it possible for us to take on other neighborly matters. For instance, we sponsor Planned Pethood, whose main objective is to reduce the rampant over-population of homeless animals like domesticated cats and dogs. We want to do our part and host an adoption event with Planned Pethood in our October tent sale. We thank our customers for making it possible for us to help with this and other local causes.”
